On December 24, 2024, the 23rd SAPA Symposium was held at the Rengo Kaikan, and Mr. Toshiki Takahashi ( Chief Researcher, Institute for International Trade and Investment) gave a lecture titled "The Impact of the Trump Administration on Asia, Including Japan."

Takahashi specifically and practically discussed what President-elect Trump's trade policy will be, pointing out that Trump will be changing his targets. In other words, he argued that a review of the USMCA and investments by Chinese automakers in the US could be considered as measures to correct the indirect export of products produced overseas by Chinese companies. Finally, he concluded that it will be important for Japanese companies to develop new supply chain strategies.
